Final Results

I just looked at the NASCAR site and there were no penalties or changes in postion so the standings are official!

Congratulations to everyone who won and good luck next year to all those who didn't! :)

Pheonix race

Well this is getting interesting!!

After a solid run of three straight low scores, Pick Me blows up and grabs 104 points, OUCH! Back to fourth, that sucks. Kate's making a run to grab 5th from Pam. They're both tied at 2538 points.

It's been a good race to the finish, but Mr. Rogers has got things locked up with a hundred+ point lead. I just can't see that changing!

I'm really lookin' forward to seeing how things work out for everyone next week! I'll post the results as soon as I can but we'll still have to wait for NASCAR to post the official race results on Monday.

Good luck everyone!

YeeHaw, Texas!

Hey y'all,

Guess I gotta eat my words...I hate when that happens, lol. Pick Me picked it up and has made it into second place!!! Good on ya! Make a race of it, eh? Never say never, lol.

Think you can make up 125 points in two races?!?!? :) If Mr. Rogers keeps getting low scores, it won't matter!

Atlanta

Not much changed this week. Pick Me's had low score two weeks in a row so he's now within 9 points of Marky Mark. gonna be a battle for third!

I watched a good bit of the race, it's crazy how the cars get better and worse thru the different runs. Oh well, guess that's why they have pit stops, so they can work on them and make them better throughout the race.

Martinsville

Lookin' like Johnson's got it in the bag. It's a 3-peat. Damn impressive. Considering that the team looked like shit at the start of the year. All Hendricks' cars have sucked this year but the 48 team has persevered. Too bad I picked Gordon! Ah well, there's always next year. ;)

I wouldn't want to call a win yet for Mr. Rogers because it's never over.... but I think 3,4,5 are dukin' it out for position. Maybe Kate has a chance but that's it. Darrick is about a hundred points out with only 4 races left. There's just no way for him to make up that kind of ground. Nice try! Again, there's always next year, lol!

'dega

Wow. and I was gonna buy Goodyear tires, silly me!

Loyalty only goes so far until common sense should prevail, but we're talking NASCAR so common sense doesn't really apply. :) It's surprising how many times the Goodyear tires are blowing out during races. There's probably more to it than just the tires but it sure makes you wonder just how long Goodyear will continue on as tire supplier.

With all the wrecks there's a lot of big numbers. Hell, the low score is a 66! It didn't really change anything though. 'Pick Me' dropped two spots but the same 5 people are in it. There's a couple who might still sneak into the Top 5, but they're long shots at best. Right now Kate is in 6th place so I'll add her to the Top 5 standings and keep track of the 6th place finish until the end of the season. :)

Oh, one other thing, I don't know if anyone noticed but J.J. Yeley hasn't been driving for the last 5-6 races. I've still been scoring the 96 car but it seems like J.J. is not coming back to the 96 so I guess if anyone wanted to change their picks, they could as per the rules.

Kansas 400

At least I'm getting a little better about getting the results posted! :) I still haven't caught a race lately, too much stuff to do on the weekends to be sitting around watching a race. Hope it was a good one!

No big surprises in the standings, Mr. Rogers grabs the low score for the second straight week. He's looking pretty strong for his first overall title! I'm sure there's a few people who would like to take that away from him but his low score widens the gap to almost 100 points between first and second.

Dover 400

Still running a little behind in the results, here's last weeks.

Kate drops two spots to fall out of the Top 5. After such an early lead, she's fading at the end of the year. Hopefully she can make a comeback. Mr. Rogers has further widened his gap to Steve by almost 40 points. Now there's over 90 points between them with only 8 races to go.

The real race looks to be for the 2-6 spots. Those are the rest of the payout spots and it looks like anybody could end up anywhere in there! All the numbers are so close it's hard to tell where anyone will finish. I think Top 10-11 have a chance of getting some money.

Well, enjoy the race this weekend. I'll try to get the results up a bit sooner! ;)

Monday, September 15, 2008

Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire

Well here we are, all caught up now. That was a lot of work! ;)
I'll have to try and make sure I keep up to date now, a lot easier doing it one at a time instead of a whole lot at one time.

Anyway, the results have been posted. Not much change in the top 5. Greg Biffle takes the early lead in the Chase.

Watkins Glen

So that's eight wins for the kid this year. Couldn't watch the race cuz of the Olympics. Oh well.

Umm, Mr. Rogers victory was short-lived! :D Kicked off the top spot so soon, enjoy it while it lasts! We had a three way tie for our race day low score! That's a first!

Congrats to Tasha, Dave and Mike T.

Pocono

Man, I hate computers and stuff...

I was all done with my post and went to save...yup, didn't work. Lost all that I had. Bah!

Oh well, so the Top 5 got mixed up a bit. Congrats to Mr. Rogers! First time, I believe. Someone finally shuffled Steve and Kate off the top steps.

I didn't watch the race so no comment there, we're off to Watkins Glen this weekend. Watch out for the "Road Course Specialist". I read where the Big 3 want more road races in Nascar. What do you think about that? Is road racing in Nascar good or bad? Cast a vote in the new poll.

Nascar Indy

Well that was a shitty race. All those yellows for tires were just crazy. Goodyear needs to get its head out it's ass and figure out how to build a racing tire that will last.Unbelievable!

Anyway, with the weird race there's been some position changes. Nothing too dramatic. Mitty gets his second low score in a row. He's tryin' to make a comeback!

Looks like we're off to the Pocono mountains this weekend, hope they have a race this weekend! ;)

Chicago race

Missed the race again, damnit! Well, I caught a bit of it. I was flipping channels between the IndyCar race and the Stock car race.

I can't believe that Joe & Harvie beat Rolling Stoneszd with only 4 drivers! Those are some picks Daryl... :)

Not much else to say. 'til next week...

Daytona 400

Or something like that! :)

Still missing a car for Joe & Harvie... have your people call my people.

So I'm going to post the results anyway, there might be a correction but it won't have any outcome on the lead. ;)

Saw the highlites of the race, lots of cautions, eh? The 18 car wins again. Kid's startin' to make a habit of this! Guess Tony Stewart didn't like the spotlight being taken away from him and went and bought himself a team. Might not be the best thing he could do, but I guess he's earned his swing at it.

A few changes in the standings, they've really tightened up. 6 out of the Top 10 are separated by only one point! Although, the margin between first and tenth is still almost 200 points. That's a long way to go but there's only 70 points until Kelvin is in a points paying position. :) Hey, 6th place is a free pass for next year so that's worth something!

Hope I can make the time to watch the race this weekend. It's been a while. Anyway, 'til next week...

Loudon

Hey gang,

sorry for being a bit late on the race report, it was a busy weekend! I had five and a half days off for the long weekend! Wahoo!

I never caught the race on the weekend, too damn busy being outside! I did hear that the race was shortened due to rain. Maybe it was just Kurt's turn to win. ;)

The status quo was maintained in the standings but some people are going to have to contact Daryl to make new picks. The #40 Ganassi car has ceased operations so neither the driver nor the car will be competing. Joe & Harvie need to call Daryl and pick a new driver. Or continue to score 44 for the rest of the year. :)

Road rash...

Well the kid has done it again! Nice burnouts too. :)

We've had a bit of a change at the top. Mr. Earnhardt makes his first appearance of the year. Kicks out Marky Mark.

Nothin' much else goin' on. Guess we're off to Loudon next. I like the short track racin' better with stock cars. Much more beatin' and bangin' goin' on. :)

Michigan race

Well Junior finally got one! Guess he almost had to get out and push his car across the line, lol. I heard that the race was a bit of a snoozefest. Michigan always seems to be that way. Actually, most of the super speedways get to be like that.

No change in the Top 5 standings, just a few more points for each person! On to wine and cheese country for some twisty bits. Always fun to see the stock car guys wind it out on a road course.

Pocono

Well, I didn't get a chance to watch the race this weekend. Too busy enjoying the sun! :)

Steve Thorpe retakes the lead with the low score of the race, attaboy! Looks like it's a race between Steve and Kate. Will anyone else challenge?

On to Michigan. I always like this track, it's fast and multi-groove racing. Hopefully they'll be able to put on a good show for us.

Race weekend

Hey all,

It was another good weekend of racing. I watched the Dover race and the Milwaukee Mile race. Both were pretty good. I lost interest in the stock car race after three of my picks were out after that big one, damn it all!!! That sure reflects in my score...166, ouch. Not the worst tho', that goes to Dan. :P

Not really a whole lot of changes in the Top 5. Seems like everybody got a high score this week. Well, except for Val with the low score and Tammie with a 41. Pretty much everyone else had big numbers. Guess that's what happens when you have "The Big One" and it mixes things up like that.

I'm lookin' forward to the Indycar race at Texas this weekend, should be about 28 cars entered. It's Saturday night so the sparks should be flyin'! The Cup boys are in Pocono this weekend. That's always an interesting race. Not too many wrecks or anything like that but it's a fast track. Will Kyle win another one? That kid is just too much. Talk about kickin' ass!

Big Day of Racing!

Wow, what a day!

First was the Monaco Grand Prix of Formula 1. Wet weather races in F1 are always interesting. Especially now that they don't have traction control, or any driver assists, in the cars. Well done Lewis Hamilton.

Then the Indy 500! Had a couple of pals drop over to watch that one with me. A couple of beers, a few crashes and a good ending to the race! Congrats to Scott Dixon.

Finally the Coke 600. Lots of action on this one to keep everyone awake. Surprising that Kasey Kahne shot to the front at the end but that's what he did at the All-Star race so I guess it shouldn't be any surprise! That makes it a double header for him.

Speaking of shooting to the front, Kate makes it official and takes the lead from Steve Thorpe. Mr. Rogers leap frogs over Marky Mark but the Top 5 remain the same. We've got a run of 6 straight races before there's another break, the sun's starting to poke it's head out from the clouds, birds are singing and grass needs cutting. Looks like summer's on it's way!

Racin' stripes!

Darlington stripes, holy cow! Can you believe that kid?!? Smacks the wall 3-4 times, penalized and sent to the back of the line for missing lugnuts and still drives back for the win. Unbelievable! Fan or foe, you've got to give that kid credit, he can wheel one of them cars around. Wow. :)

I see that Mitty takes his turn at the bottom of the pile. It's a bit of a hollow victory, having the high score of the race. Let's hope he doesn't make a habit of it!?!

It seems to be pretty much status quo for the rest of the group. Lew finally falls out of the Top 5 and Kate is eating into Steve Thorpe's lead. Speaking of Steve, I'm pretty sure Thorpe II has Kyle Petty picked and I think I read where he's out of the #45 car for 6-7 races. Just wanna make sure Steve knows he can pick another driver, if he wants. Maybe the substitute drivers will do better than Kyle? ;)

So back to the racing, I really had a good time watching this race. A few wrecks (stupid Sadler...), some good passing, some wallbangin', what more could you ask for?!?

The All Star race is on this weekend with Charlotte the week after. Is it time for Junior to win or what??? Let me know what you think...

Richmond

Hi all,

Watched the race, for the most part, on Saturday night. Had a good time, thought there was lots of action on track. The big wreck sure jumbled things up! Too bad for Hamlin, he had the race in the bag and his tire went on him. That sucks. Mostly because I have him picked! LOL

The Top 5 got jumbled up pretty good this week. Pam had low score and she jumped back into the Top 5.

So Darlington is next, another night race. Looks like the next few races are all Saturday night races. Good reason to sit around and drink beer!

Busy Sunday!

Wow, what a day!

First, watched the F1 race, it was okay. bit of a snoozer, I missed the first 15 minutes so the race was basically over by then. Then did some yard work, first blister of the year! :) Then the 'dega race. Good race, too long tho'. The couch played it's sweet song again, lol. Caught the end of the race, that's always good.

Then I switched over to the Indycar race. It was a bit boring as well. Some good racing and passes but the announcers suck so it makes it really hard to watch.
:(

All in all. a good weekend.

The standings have been updated, Kate vaults into the Top 5 with her low score this weekend. Congrats! Mr. Anderson sneaks into fifth spot to round out the Top 5. The points are still pretty tight between the players, as can be expected. We're a quarter of the way thru the season with 9 races being run. We've had some over-achievers and under-achievers thru the first quarter. The best driver points total goes to Jeff Burton with 68 points. The highest point total goes to Kyle Petty with 337. Ouch!

Some surprises in performance from Gordon and Kenseth. Also Kurt Busch, but his little brother is doing great at his new team. Even beatin' up on ol' Smoke! ;) Gilliland is another nice surprise this year, as well as Earnhardt. He hasn't won yet but except for one bad finish at Phoenix, he'd be right at the top!

So let's see, Carl Edwards has won three times, Kyle Busch twice and Jeff Burton has won once but he's leading the standings. Gotta love points racing!

Now we're off to Richmond Int'l Raceway. A 3/4 mile sort track. We should see some great sliding around with these new cars, I can't wait!

Phoenix

Hi all,

Didn't quite make it thru this race! :) Oh well, guess that's what happens with west coast races.

There's been a few changes in the Top 5, nothing too crazy. Congrats to Marky Mark for two low scores in a row!

Looks like it's an off weekend this week and then we're off to Talladega. I think I heard where they're adding about an extra 25hp to the cars by opening the restrictor plate opening. That should make for an interesting race! I'll have to make a point of staying awake for this one, lol. :)

Texas race

Hi all,

Standings have been updated. Steve Thorpe still holds top spot but Lew is climbing the ladder to take top spot from him! Mitty's been kicked off the island while Marky mark rolls in with the Race Day low score. D.A. sneaks in to the Top 5 for the first time. Lucky for me I took a shit kicking so now I'm not even in the Top 10. Fame is so fleeting...

Maybe it's just me but i've been enjoying both the cup races and the crapwagon races. Some good side by side racing with cars sliding all over the place. Hell, even formoola 1 is almost entertaining this year, what with their no traction control or drivers aides, the driver almost makes a difference now! Nice to see for a change, well except for Gordo not being able to drive a freakin' car!

The next race is at Phoenix and should be another good show. I've always liked this track. Should get the IndyCars back there! It's a nice flat oval and always tests the drivers, so good luck to them!

Racin' weekend.

Lots o' racin' this weekend. Sports cars, open wheel and stock car racing. Still a little chilly for the local tracks, oh to be in Florida! :)

Good to see all my boys finish so well! That brings me in to the Top 10. Steve Thorpe still has a lock on the top spot. It's crazy the difference one driver can make, Steve has picks in 1st spot and 31st spot! Go figure! Just goes to show you, you never can tell how this thing works out.

So off we go to Texas Motor Speedway. That's a fast place! Should be wild to see these new cars get cranked up and slidin' around that track. :) Sure hope all my drivers keep up the good job and I sneak a couple more spots up the ladder!

Decisions, decisions...

I've been lusting after the new Dodge Challenger since it was introduced. Now that they're in production, I'm seriously jonesin' for one. But I have a problem, which colour to pick?!?

The original Hugger Orange is awesome!

but then I saw this new dark blue car and I like it a lot!

or ummm...we could go with this package!!!

What to do???

Which colour looks best for this car? Vote on which you like best and help me decide!

Here's an awesome place to see some info on this car, glad to see that they plan on having it around for a few years! Link

heheh, found a cool video!

Connection fixed...

Hi all,

Sorry about the results page. Had a minor glitch but it's all fixed now.

Monday, March 17, 2008

Bristol

I liked this race. Always have. Not quite enough crashes to make it real excitin' but still enough action to stay awake!

Steve Thorpe takes the top spot away from Mitty by having the race day low score! Way to go! Sorry 'bout your luck Mitty, but remember it's a looooong season! ;) That's twice now that Steve has had the low score, time for some other people to have their turn.

Easter weekend's coming up so there's a break and then there's racing at Martinsville. Another short track race to watch. Can't think of anything particular to look for in this race. We've had all the manufacturers win a race now, no one's really fuedin' and Tony wasn't cursin' 'bout no tires so I guess all is right in the Nascar world, for at least a couple more weeks!

Atlanta race

Hi all,

Thought I'd throw something up here quickly about Atlanta. Seems to be more of the same here. The new car is still twitchy as hell and is producing some interesting opportunities out there. You know when the cars are sliding sideways off the turns that something is wrong. Blame goodyear, blame nascar but it sure makes it a little more interesting to watch! You never know if someone is going to wreck or not!

I'll say it for cowboy, "That damn Elliott Sadler!" :) That driver sure is costing us some points! Oh well, hopefully what goes around, comes around and his team starts to figure out that car.

I guess we're racing at Dover next. This should be interesting! Always lots of beatin' and bangin' going on there. I might be able to even stay awake thru the whole race, lol! ;)

'til next week...

Monday, March 3, 2008

Viva Las Vegas!

I know, that's cheesy as hell!

So Mitty still has the lead, by a comfortable margin too. Almost sixty points. Damn! Sure makes it hard for the rest of us to keep up. But, it's a loooooong season. :)

Race was okay. Lots of action, that's for sure. Seems that the teams haven't quite got this new car figured out. Looks like it's skittish as hell. Just ask Gordon and Kenseth! Or one of the dozen or so other drivers that was scraping the wall or sliding off the corners.

We still haven't seen a Chevy or a 'yoda in victory lane yet. Junior was close but no cigar. The 18 car looked like the class of the field but just faded away. I guess eleventh isn't too bad but to be out in front the way he was and then not be in the top 10 shows just how tough these cars are to handle. Isn't Kyle the guy who said that he hated driving these new cars?

Alrighty then, off to Atlanta. One of the fastest tracks in the series. Will we see Edwards get 3 in a row? Is it time for Hendrick Motorsports to start winning? How long before Gibbs Racing bags the first Toyota win? WTH, I sound like a freakin' Nascar commercial! LMAO, man I'm gonna miss Champ Cars. :)

Oh well, let's hope we get some good racing at Atlanta. I'm enjoying seeing the side by side stuff with the drivers really having a handful with these new cars. Makes it seem that much more unpredictable even though the same teams are running at the front.

Kalifornication

Well I was hoping to watch this race and wouldn't you know, the damn thing was rained out. I sure wasn't going to miss work to watch it so if anyone has any race comments, please be my guest!

Mr. Mitty has taken an early run to the lead. 2nd last week, now 1st. Can't wait to hear about it tomorrow! lol And I see that RollingStoneszd has taken their rightful place. I'm sorry man, I had to... Also, I'd like to give a shout out to Tammie Jones, worst picks last week, first picks this week! Can't say I've seen that too many times but that's a hell of a way to start the season!

Look's like we're off to Vegas, baby! That's always a good track for a race. I guess it's another afternoon race. I don't think this one'll get rained out!

So, what's the thing to watch out for. We've had a Dodge and a Ford win. Who's next?!? How 'bout a poll. Chevy or 'yoda? You pick.

Sad day for Champ Car fans...

Well, Champ Car is no more. They've officially folded into the IRL. Not really sure how it'll all wash out but I can't see myself watching the IRL. But it's probably good for the sport. or at least it's a starting point. it may be too far gone to matter.

So, kind of a sad day.

Thanks for the memories!

Let the Race begin!

Well the race has been run and won by Ryan Newman! Congrats to him.

Everyone had a great time at Daryl's watching the race. Good food, good drinks and good times! Just needed a few more wrecks to cap the evening off better, lol. the new car seems to be racier, I guess time will tell. Ol' DW seems to like it! :)

Once Nascar posts the official times, I'll get things rolling with the results. Nice to have the day off after the race!

I set up a new poll, see which Mfg is going to win the next race. So, make a pick and leave some comments. How do you like the new site? How did you like the race result? Who's been sandbagging during Daytona testing? Where'n the hell did Dodge come from? ;)

Guess Kalifornication is up next. Big 2 mile D oval. Now we'll see what these new cars will do without the restrictor plate. Any guesses on top speed? I'm thinking probably 197 top into T1.

Anyway, good start to the season. Thanks for havin' us over Daryl!

Drivers Picks

It's been a good night of getting the results pages updated. We can definitely see some trends in the drivers picks. I'm surprised there's so few Kenseth picks but not surprised with the Johnson picks. Almost a sure bet with that one!

Anyway, looks like there'll be some good competition this year, almost race time!

Let the Madness begin!

Hello Race Fans!

I thought I'd try posting on a blog for the race results and comments. This way people will be able to add to the discussion of the race season and how we're doing with our picks. So, I hope this works, lol.

We'll try this for a while and see how it works. Please add your comments to the weekly race results. Monday is usually when Nascar posts the official race results, hopefully I can get our results posted within a day! ;)

Good luck to all the players!
