Wow, what a day!
First was the Monaco Grand Prix of Formula 1. Wet weather races in F1 are always interesting. Especially now that they don't have traction control, or any driver assists, in the cars. Well done Lewis Hamilton.
Then the Indy 500! Had a couple of pals drop over to watch that one with me. A couple of beers, a few crashes and a good ending to the race! Congrats to Scott Dixon.
Finally the Coke 600. Lots of action on this one to keep everyone awake. Surprising that Kasey Kahne shot to the front at the end but that's what he did at the All-Star race so I guess it shouldn't be any surprise! That makes it a double header for him.
Speaking of shooting to the front, Kate makes it official and takes the lead from Steve Thorpe. Mr. Rogers leap frogs over Marky Mark but the Top 5 remain the same. We've got a run of 6 straight races before there's another break, the sun's starting to poke it's head out from the clouds, birds are singing and grass needs cutting. Looks like summer's on it's way!

Racin' stripes!
Darlington stripes, holy cow! Can you believe that kid?!? Smacks the wall 3-4 times, penalized and sent to the back of the line for missing lugnuts and still drives back for the win. Unbelievable! Fan or foe, you've got to give that kid credit, he can wheel one of them cars around. Wow. :)
I see that Mitty takes his turn at the bottom of the pile. It's a bit of a hollow victory, having the high score of the race. Let's hope he doesn't make a habit of it!?!
It seems to be pretty much status quo for the rest of the group. Lew finally falls out of the Top 5 and Kate is eating into Steve Thorpe's lead. Speaking of Steve, I'm pretty sure Thorpe II has Kyle Petty picked and I think I read where he's out of the #45 car for 6-7 races. Just wanna make sure Steve knows he can pick another driver, if he wants. Maybe the substitute drivers will do better than Kyle? ;)
So back to the racing, I really had a good time watching this race. A few wrecks (stupid Sadler...), some good passing, some wallbangin', what more could you ask for?!?
The All Star race is on this weekend with Charlotte the week after. Is it time for Junior to win or what??? Let me know what you think...

Richmond
Hi all,
Watched the race, for the most part, on Saturday night. Had a good time, thought there was lots of action on track. The big wreck sure jumbled things up! Too bad for Hamlin, he had the race in the bag and his tire went on him. That sucks. Mostly because I have him picked! LOL
The Top 5 got jumbled up pretty good this week. Pam had low score and she jumped back into the Top 5.
So Darlington is next, another night race. Looks like the next few races are all Saturday night races. Good reason to sit around and drink beer!

Busy Sunday!
Wow, what a day!
First, watched the F1 race, it was okay. bit of a snoozer, I missed the first 15 minutes so the race was basically over by then. Then did some yard work, first blister of the year! :) Then the 'dega race. Good race, too long tho'. The couch played it's sweet song again, lol. Caught the end of the race, that's always good.
Then I switched over to the Indycar race. It was a bit boring as well. Some good racing and passes but the announcers suck so it makes it really hard to watch.
:(
All in all. a good weekend.
The standings have been updated, Kate vaults into the Top 5 with her low score this weekend. Congrats! Mr. Anderson sneaks into fifth spot to round out the Top 5. The points are still pretty tight between the players, as can be expected. We're a quarter of the way thru the season with 9 races being run. We've had some over-achievers and under-achievers thru the first quarter. The best driver points total goes to Jeff Burton with 68 points. The highest point total goes to Kyle Petty with 337. Ouch!
Some surprises in performance from Gordon and Kenseth. Also Kurt Busch, but his little brother is doing great at his new team. Even beatin' up on ol' Smoke! ;) Gilliland is another nice surprise this year, as well as Earnhardt. He hasn't won yet but except for one bad finish at Phoenix, he'd be right at the top!
So let's see, Carl Edwards has won three times, Kyle Busch twice and Jeff Burton has won once but he's leading the standings. Gotta love points racing!
Now we're off to Richmond Int'l Raceway. A 3/4 mile sort track. We should see some great sliding around with these new cars, I can't wait!

Phoenix
Hi all,
Didn't quite make it thru this race! :) Oh well, guess that's what happens with west coast races.
There's been a few changes in the Top 5, nothing too crazy. Congrats to Marky Mark for two low scores in a row!
Looks like it's an off weekend this week and then we're off to Talladega. I think I heard where they're adding about an extra 25hp to the cars by opening the restrictor plate opening. That should make for an interesting race! I'll have to make a point of staying awake for this one, lol. :)
