Phoenix race result

The results are in, Joey Logano is the 2023 NASCAR Champion! Ross Chastain gave it a good go but got held up too long and couldn't close the gap to challenge. What a crazy year that man has had!

Congrats to our Top 5 winners:

I'm sure you'll be hearing from Daryl shortly about getting you your winnings!

Also, congrats to Mad Mike for winning a free pick next year for coming in 6th.

Martinsville race result

Christopher Bell was the race winner and Ross Chastain had the crazy move of the race! Can't say I've seen anything nuttier than what he pulled off.

One race left to run and it looks like 1 and 2 are pretty much a lock. Crazier things have happened tho', this is Nascar after all! Looking down the order, it's still a toss-up for 3 to 7 so that's good to see it so close right to the last race. Good luck to everyone!

Homestead race result

Kyle Larson is the race winner! Too bad he missed the cut already. Weird contact on pit road with Truex.

Just two more races to crown a new Champion and declare the winners in our pool! Can't wait!  :)

Las Vegas race result

Joey Logano wins the race and punches his ticket to the final four.

Lots of drama with Bubba Wallace taking out Larson, will be interesting to see what Nascar does, if anything...

Here are the standings following the Las Vegas race:

Charlotte road course race result

Christopher Bell with the tire gamble pays off and he wins to advance to the Round of 8. Lots of carnage to end this race. Glad they got thru with only one of the overtime runs. Lots of days were ruined by aggressive driving but I guess that's to be expected in the elimination round.

Here are the standings following the Charlotte road course race:

Talladega race result

Chase Elliott wins at Talladega on the last lap of the race. Surprised that there wasn't a "big one". Seems that the no one was taking any big risks at the end.

Five races left to decide the Championship and the winners of the pool. Getting down to the wire!

A little late but here it is;

Tyler Reddick wins again, the kid is on a real roll.

Bristol race result

Chris Buescher wins his first Cup series race, congrats to him! That's the 19th race winner for this season of the next gen car. I think Nascar has accomplished what they were looking for with that many drivers winning in one season! They've had some issues with the car but the parity of the teams has been fantastic to see.

Here are the standings following the Bristol race:

Kansas race result

Hi gang, I got things sorted out with Bubba Wallace number changing. My spreadsheet works by using the car numbers and with the team swapping the 23 and 45 cars for owner points, it kind of messed up how I score the points. What I have to do is manually put in the old car numbers so the correct driver scores the correct points. It will look sort of weird but if you check my work you'll see the proper scoring position for Bubba and for Ty Gibbs (who is subbing for Kurt Busch).

Sorry if there's any confusion, we haven't had to deal with a car number swap like this before so I wasn't real sure how to deal with it. This is the best way I could figure out how to score these last few races with how the system works. Any questions please contact me at j.k.houston at hotmail.com and I'll answer your questions, or you can contact Daryl at the number given on your pick sheets.

With all that said, Bubba Wallace won the Kansas race! So it was a good decision for the team to swap the entries for the 45 car.

Car number 45 update

 Hi Gang,

I just realized tonight when I was doing the results that 23XI Racing swapped car numbers for Bubba Wallace. I'm not sure that we've every had that done before so I'm not sure how that works for our pool. It's a little late to be calling Daryl and asking him how we're going to score things, so I'll call him tomorrow and get things sorted out.

We'll probably switch the car numbers but I don't want to make that call without talking to Daryl first. If we do, that'll mean that last weeks results will change as well.

Sorry about that but we'll get things sorted out and updated on Monday.

Darlington race result

How 'bout that, the 43 car wins at Darlington for the first time in 55 years! Congrats to Erik Jones on his improbable win. Seemed like tires were a thing, at least for Harvick! Tough nite for his fans.

Here are the standings following the Darlington race:

Daytona race result

Gotta love the demolition derby that is the Daytona races. Such a lottery, and then they don't throw the yellow for rain, pretty bad...

Congrats, I guess, to Austin Dillon who was the lucky winner this time. Oh, and please disregard the date showing as 8/27, I was too lazy to change it after I saw it.  :)

Watkins Glen race result

Kyle Larson muscles his way past his teammate to pick up his second win of the season. Surprising  considering his form from last year. Guess this next gen car has levelled things off. Chase Elliott has won the most with 4 races this season.

Richmond race result

Happy Harvick wins again! Two in a row, good for him. Not so good for the rest of the field if he's getting on a roll heading into the playoffs.

New Hampshire race result

Congrats to another first time winner, Christopher Bell! This has been quite to year for first-timers, great to see the new car even out the playing field. It looked like Hendricks had an early lock but it looks like the other manufacturers are figuring things out.

Atlanta race result

Chase Elliott wins one in his home state of Georgia! I'm sure there was lots of celebratin' going on that night!

Sonoma race result

Another first time winner! Congrats to Daniel Suarez! That makes 12 different winners in 16 races. Daniel is the fourth first-time winner this season. The new car is really mixing up the usual running order, that's for sure. Good to see some new drivers winning. All the young guns coming after the old dogs!

St. Louis WWTR race result

Time to get caught up!  ;)

Joey Logano won again, and it was a good weekend for Penske because Will Power won the Detroit Grand Prix in IndyCar as well! I like Will, he's a character who always has something interesting to say, lol

Here are the standings following the St. Louis race:

Charlotte race result

Denny Hamlin wins the Coca-Cola 600! I fell asleep so I read the race report, sounds like another crazy Nascar race! 600 miles is a long night of racing, that's all I'm sayin'...

Kansas race result

Kurt Busch is the race winner. First win for the 45 team in a Toyota. Read the race recap and it said that Kurt has now won a race in each of the four manufacturers that he's raced in. Think that says a lot about Kurt's ability to get a car to the front. Congrats to him and the team.

Standings update

Hi gang, I've been a bit lazy but I've gotten everything all caught up. You can see the last three race results below.

Thanks!

Darlington race result

Joey Logano is your bump and run winner! Seems like he didn't need to do that because he was fast enough to just pass the guy but sounded from his interview that it was payback for something that happened before between them. Rubbin's racin'!

Here are the standings following the Darlington race:

Dover dirt race result

Chase Elliott came thru for the win at the 2nd dirt race at Dover.

Here are the standings following the Dover dirt race:

Talladega race result

Ross Chastain wins again. Seems like it was a typical 'dega race.

Here are the standings following the Talladega race result:

Bristol dirt race result

Kyle Busch gets the lucky break and the win! Sucks for Reddick but he's been up in the mix this year, it can't be too long before he snags his first win.

Martinsville race result

First time this season for a repeat winner, congrats to William Byron!

I was enjoying the race but it got too late and was past my bedtime so I had to call it a night and didn't get to see the finish. But it seemed Byron was right there the whole race.

Richmond race result

Hey, how about one for the old guys! Congrats to Denny Hamlin on his win. I caught the end of the race and was amazed at how much of a difference new vs. old tires made. Nice to see the race finish at published laps.  :)

Here are the standings following the Richmond race:

Sunday, March 27, 2022

COTA race result

Another first time winner, congrats Ross Chastain! Sure was a lot of bangin' goin' on the last few corners. Can't really blame any of them, especially Chastain as it was his first win in the Cup series. I'm sure Allmendinger is pissed but he was the first to lay the bumper on Chastain. Wild finish!

Here are the standings following the COTA race:

Monday, March 21, 2022

Atlanta race result

Whoa! What a weekend of racing, and what a race at Atlanta. I didn't get a chance to watch, but from the recap I saw it was exciting. Lots of action and side-by-side racing. Seems there was lots of that in all the series racing on the weekend.

I got last weeks results posted as well, so we're all caught up now. Here are the standings following the Atlanta race:

Phoenix race result

And we have another first time winner in the Cup series! Congrats to Chase Briscoe on his first win in the big leagues! Good to see the 14 car back in the winners circle.

Sunday, March 6, 2022

Las Vegas race result

Alex Bowman wins the Las Vegas race in overtime to beat his teammate Larson, going for his 2nd win in a row of the young season.

It looks like Hendricks team is picking up where it left of last season, next gen car or not! 2 for 3 so far this season, mighty fine way to start.

Here are the standings following the Las Vegas race:

Wednesday, March 2, 2022

California race result

Well, look who's winning again. Kyle Larson starts the defense of his title with a win in the second race. The guy is just too good to not be at the front of the pack. Guess it doesn't hurt to have a Hendrick chevy, either!

Looks to me like this next gen car is shaking up the order (besides Hendrick) the way that they were hoping. Guess we've got to see a full season before we can really say but it seems so far the car is doing okay.

Here are the standings following the California race:

Daytona race result

How about that?! A damn rookie wins the freakin' Daytona 500! Congrats to Austin Cindric on his first win in the Cup series. Can't do much better than that for your first win, lol.

Here are the standings following the Daytona race:

Driver groups and picks updated

 Hi gang,

There was a bit of a problem with the driver groups. Ryan Preece in the #37 car was listed in the 5th driver group but didn't have a ride for this year. He was listed earlier when I made up the driver group sheet but I guess his deal must've gone away. So unfortunately we had a few people who picked Preece.

We had to get back to those people and get them to pick another driver. That's all done now and I've updated both the driver group sheet and the driver pick sheet that shows all the picks that people selected.

Sorry for the delay, just one of those things. Good thing is, we've got that all sorted out now and I can now start posting the results. I'll get caught up here and then off we go!

2022 Drivers Picks

 Hello players!

We've got another exciting year of NASCAR racing to look forward to and here's hoping that everybody's favourite driver has a great year!

We lost a few players and gained a few more and ended up with the same amount of players, so welcome to the new players. I'd like to apologize to the players that had special characters in their player names. Unfortunately my spreadsheet doesn't like the number sign or apostrophes in the names. So I've had to modify the players names to conform.

The list of Driver Picks are posted in the link below so everyone can see all the picks and be sure that there are no duplicates.

2022 Driver Picks

Nascar has a very long season, so I don't always get the regular season standings updated every week. Sometimes I might even miss a few weeks in a row. But, once the playoffs start I'll always make sure to get the standings updated weekly and hopefully on Sunday night. No promises on the Sunday night thing though, lol.

If anyone has any questions or comments, you can comment on the posts or my email is in my contact info down below. If there are any errors in the spreadsheet, please email me or you can contact Daryl, his number is on the driver groups page that you used to make your picks.

Again, thanks for joining the pool, we hope you have fun following your favourite drivers, and good luck to everyone!

Driver Groups update

Oops! Had a duplication with Keselowski showing up in two places. He belongs in the 6th position driving the #6 car. I've adjusted the other drivers to reflect Ryan Newman not racing in Cup this year.

Appreciate the mistake being pointed out so I could correct it. Glad people are paying attention!  ;)

2022 Driver Groups

 Happy New Year everybody!

I hope this new year brings everyone success and good fortunes!

Speaking of fortunes, it's that time of year again where a new season of NASCAR racing is close upon us. There's still a few weeks before the Daytona 500 but I thought I'd get the driver groups done earlier than usual. Let people have a bit more time to pick their driver groupings.

With this new season comes a new car, new teams, and new racers. With a completely new car, all the teams will be starting from ground zero. Will the usual suspects still shine or will some different teams figure things out early and move to the front?!

Study the drivers groupings and remember, you can only pick one driver from each group. Click the link to the right if you need a refresher on the complete set of rules.

Good luck to everyone who plays!
