Season Ending results

NASCAR has made their results official so we can now finish our season!

Steve Thorpe completes the late run to take the win! Congratulations!

Pelirojo's picks seemed to have faltered and cost them not only the top spot but 2nd as well. They fell back to 3rd with Wii-Texan sneaking into 2nd. Sassy Sammy 2 finished in 4th, while Eat My Dust held on to 5th. Another new player, MexyCan, got by Mr. Rogers to take the 6th place consolation prize of a free play next year.

I'm sure Daryl will be contacting all of you shortly. Congratulations to all of the winners!

Phoenix race results

The standings have been updated.

Steve Thorpe has made a late surge to take the lead from Pelirojo with just one race left to run. There's only 24 points between them and third place is only 1 point back as well. 4th and 5th place could flip-flop but they don't really look like they'll be able to make the big jump to grab 3rd away from the Top 3.

Special mention goes out to 55 Nomad for their low score this week of 18 points. They had a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 8th place finish. I've added them to our Low Score Wall of Fame (so to speak).  :)

I'm going to wait until Nascar makes the results final on the Monday before I post the final standings. That way if there are any changes in Nascars standings, our results will be correct.

Texas race results

Well there's finally been a change in the Top 5. No one new just Steve Thorpe moving into 2nd place and Wii-Texan dropping back to 3rd.

It's been a pretty close battle all along. With only 2 races left, there's still the chance we could end up with a different winner!

Martinsville Results

The results have been posted for Martinsville.

No change in the Top 5. Points have gotten a little closer so there may be some swapping between positions but it looks like the same 5 will finish in the Top 5. 3 more races to find out...  ;)

Talladega results

Charlotte race results

It was a sad day for racing on Sunday with the passing of Dan Wheldon from injuries sustained while racing for $5 million dollars. It doesn't matter which series you follow, please say a prayer for Dan and his family.

The results have been posted for Saturdays race. Only 5 more left. Can anybody knock Pelirojo off from the top spot? They've had the lead for the best part of the season. Good luck to everyone!

Kansas race results

The Kansas race results have been posted. Same Top 5, same order. Another week down.

Dover results

The results have been posted for the Dover race. Same Top 5, just different numbers.  :)

New Hampshire results

Hi Gang,

I've got the results updated now. Steve Thorpe had a killer total last week. He had a total of 17 points so I'll add him to our list of low scores.

Everything else should be up to date. Let me know if anyone is still having problems.

Problem resolved

Finally!

I found another site that can host the files and doesn't corrupt them. What a pain in the ass that was.
Oh well, gotta love computer crap when it's not working...

I missed last weeks standings but will get things updated Monday or Tuesday once the results have been made official from NASCAR for Sundays race.

Problems with Results

It would appear that I'm having some problems publishing the results. For some reason the document that I've always uploaded isn't being read properly now. I've contacted the website support to see if they can lend any help.

Until I get things sorted out, you'll just have to make do with the Top 5 results. Sorry about that.

Atlanta race results

The Atlanta race has finally been run. Jeff Gordon won the race.

Results have been posted.

Bristol results

And here we are, the results updated as promised. Can't say that I'll be real good about the updates in the future but I'll sure try to get them done for Monday. Should be easier with the work I did over the weekend.

standings update

It's been a while for our standings to get updated. I've been busy with other things and haven't had an opportunity to get things looked after.

I changed the way that I recorded the race results. I used to print out a copy of the race results and manually enter the finishing order for the cars. I can now copy and paste the running order into the spreadsheet which will make it really easy to record the standings.

You should see a new tab called 2011 Race Results. Take a look and you'll see all of the race results for this year listed by Date as well as Race Number.

Hopefully that will allow me to keep up a little better.  ;)

So once Nascar declares the Bristol results official, I'll update the standings to include the Bristol results and have them posted Monday night.

race results format

thought I'd put up a poll and see if anyone would prefer one way or the other. while playing catch up, I thought it looked okay with the results shown within the post. Also, they are there to go back to and look at the results if you wanted.

With the results posted on the side, it displays them prominently and is easy to find but they do change week to week.

So the question is, would you prefer to have the results posted on the side bar where it can be easily found or is it better to have the results posted within the post itself? Maybe a combination of both?

David Ragan, the guy who's team owner is in the process of re-negotiating the contract of the Sponsor who "just happens to win the race" with his driver. funny how things like that work out.

In all seriousness, Congrats to Ragan on his win.
I really don't like that style of racing much, it's just bumper cars or something, but a win's a win.

Infineon raceway

Always real exciting seeing the stock cars on the road course. They're not really made for that so it's fun to see them pushed to the extreme.

Kurt Busch won this years race. Too bad.

Coca-Cola 600

Bad day for the National Guard, apparently. From J.R. Hildebrand walling it in Turn 4 on the final lap, to Earnhardt Jr. running out of fuel on the backstretch, they haven't had much luck. There's a MotoGP driver who's sponsored by the National Guard, wonder what his chances are at his next race?  :)

Robbie Gordon was back in the #7 car this week, looks like maybe he's going to have other drivers in and out of his car during the season.

Nice score for Mike Tufford. He only had 24 points, the Top 4 plus 14th place for Kenseth.

Not much else to report on. Steve Thorpe makes an appearance in the Top 5, with Marky Mark 1 dropping to 6th.

I actually spent a little time and made the spreadsheet a little easier for me. Geeky stuff, really. lol  It just makes my job easier so it was worth the time.

edit: Oops, almost forgot to add that Robby Gordon was replaced by Scott Wimmer in the #7 car. Until further notice, I'll be recording the points from the #7 car. Whoever has Robby Gordon picked may have the option to pick another driver if Gordon misses 4 races in a row.

driver update

I was just reading the Toronto Sun online and I saw a comment about Robby Gordon running out of funding.

"According to Landmark Newspapers reporter Dustin Long, Robby Gordon has only enough funding to race in Sprint Cup races through April, meaning Darlington would be the first race he would miss if funding isn’t found."

Hope Robby can find additional funding but whoever has him as their pick may want to keep their eyes open for another selection in April.

Just thought I'd throw this out there to keep everyone informed!

Phoenix results

Congrats to #24 finally getting back into the winner circle after so many races!

Linda Cramer maintains her lead but I think we can expect a lot of movement for the first few races until the positions start to settle down. Especially because of the big wreck that happened in Phoenix. Certainly caught a few big names up in the wreck which probably changed what the running order would have been.

Off to Las Vegas for the next race. Should be an interesting race.

Pfft, that really sucks! I came in last. Hell of a way to start the season. Oh well, it's only one race. Thank god for that.

Well we're back for another season of Nascar racing. I hope to have the points figured out in a day or two. I still need to get over to Daryl's and pick up all the info.

I don't have a TV right now and I'm also working afternoons so I won't be making any commentary during the season. If anyone wants to join in and comment, I can be reached at j.k.houston@hotmail.com

Speedweeks

Okay boys and girls, it's time to get your picks in for this years pool!

I've updated the 2011 drivers group sheet. There's been a couple changes made. Kasey Kahne is in the number 4 car instead of the number 82. Also the number has changed for Bobby Labonte, I'm not sure he's even running a full time schedule so make sure your picks are for drivers who are competing in every race!
